HPT Continues without Epic

When Epic Poker, a/k/a Federated Sports & Gaming, went bankrupt this year, the only profitable asset in their portfolio was none other than the Heartland Poker Tour, a midwest poker tour that focuses on lower buy-in events with $1,500 buy-in main events, and has received television coverage for many years.

Unfortunately, as we now know, Epic Poker was not quite Epic, and after it filed for bankruptcy, many feared for what would become of the HPT. We finally have an answer. The HPT has survived, and is about to host its first event since the Epic debacle.

The HPT event is scheduled for next week at Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The televised final table will take place on July 30, 2012. Good luck, HPT. It’s good to see that Epic did not bring down a solid mid-stakes tour.
