Poker continues to explode in popularity across Asia, including in the Philippines. As a result, the Philippines Poker Tour is sending its first ever representative to poker’s biggest annual event, the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to reports, 22-year-old James Peng Mendoza has won a World Series of Poker 2013 package from the PPT for his success in the PPT’s Battle of Champions. The Battle of Champions was a private tournament featuring the winners of the monthly open tournaments ran by the PPT. The WSOP prize package includes airfare, hotels, a seat in the $10,000 main event and spending money. Mendoza is quoted as saying that having a poker career and playing in the WSOP main event were his dreams. Congratulations, Mendoza.
