While Norway may be known as the home country of several world-class poker players, the country still deems poker illegal. As a result, this year’s Norwegian Championship recently kicked off in Dublin, Ireland, complete with a Norwegian-only field.
The event, open exclusively to Norwegians, has ran for the last several years in countries outside of Norway due to Norway’s gambling laws. Prior host countries include England, Sweden and Latvia. The event includes several poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from €300 to €2,000, and is hosted at the Citywest Hotel.
