Event #53, yet another $1,500 NLHE event, was won recently by Neil Willerson. On his was to win the bracelet and over $730,000, Willerson faced the largest open field of the WSOP thus far this year, a total of 3,166 players, including Willerson. This is Willerson’s first bracelet.
One event later, and the Willerson’s victory over the largest field thus far was downgraded to a victory over the second largest field in this year’s WSOP. Not surprisingly, Event #54, a $1,000 NLHE event, beat Event #53’s field by having a total of 3,220 participants. The smaller buy-in and closer proximity the Main Event likely helped turnout. After 3,219 players were eliminated, Will Jaffe was awarded the bracelet and just over $500,000 for the win. This was Jaffe’s first bracelet.
